Hi there,

First, let me thank for taking the time to read my bio.  My name is Mike Moore. I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts in  Photo Illustration and Communications from Kent State University. I was taught the basics of photography using a 35mm and then moved on to the Calumet 4x5 view camera. I’ve been photographing weddings, portraits, sports, and products since graduating college; however, my love for photography happened a long time before going to school.  It began when I was taking some pictures at my sister’s college graduation dinner. Through the viewfinder, I could see the graduation cake making its way to where my sister and her boyfriend were sitting. As I panned over to my sister, I saw a surprised and shocked look on her face. I then noticed her hands rising to her checks, which were turning a bright red. Everyone around her was very excited, and the whole time I’m thinking, "Wow, that cake doesn’t look THAT good."  After everyone calmed down, I was able to make my way to her and see what all the excitement was about. My brother-in-law figured what better way to propose to your girlfriend than at her graduation dinner? A week later, I got the film back from a local lab and was thumbing through the prints, not expecting to come across a picture of the image I described above; but I had captured that exact moment.  To this day, when I go over my sister's house, I pause and look at that photo ,and instantly, I'm taken back to that moment in time, and I realize all over again the power and importance of photographs in each of our lives.
